Starting a new project can feel like chaos. You open Figma, create a few frames, pick random colors, then try to figure out what should go where. The first few hours often disappear into setting up buttons, grids, and text styles before you even touch a real screen.
Here’s how I learned to skip that mess and start fast using a ready design system.
Step 1. Choose a simple base system.
Pick something that already has clean foundations — colors, text styles, spacing, and a few basic components. Avoid those massive UI kits that promise “everything.” You’ll end up deleting half of it. I personally use [link to your design system] because it gives just what I need and nothing more.
Step 2. Adjust styles for your project.
Open the variables panel, change the color palette, set your typography, and tweak the spacing. You’ll see how fast it starts looking like your brand.
Step 3. Customize a few components.
Change the shape of buttons, radius, or shadows. Replace the logo. You’ll feel how flexible a well-structured system can be.
Step 4. Create your main layouts.
Use your new components to build headers, footers, cards, and forms. Everything will look consistent without effort.
Step 5. Keep evolving.
As your product grows, add new components. The clean structure will handle it easily.
When you start working this way, your workflow becomes calmer and faster. You spend less time fixing inconsistencies and more time designing ideas that matter.
If you’ve been wanting to organize your projects better, this kind of minimal system is a great starting point.
